Type a side, read the count

  1. 01
    Open a worked room.

60 by 40 feet is the 60 inch round. 80 by 50 is the 72 inch round. 50 by 30 is the 6 foot banquet.

  2. 02
    Change a side.

There is no calculate button. A 14 foot square drops to one 60 inch round and 8 guests as soon as you type it.

  3. 03
    Switch units.

Metres relabel the same inches. The 60 by 40 foot hall stays 12 tables at 1.5 m and 0.9 m.

  4. 04
    Place the real sheet.

This count is the comfortable grid. The event floor plan planner is where a packed layout turns red.

The formula

Inset, then spacing, then one more table

Along one wall, the count is floor of (side minus two insets) divided by the center spacing, plus one, when the side is at least two insets. Otherwise it is zero. Tables are the product of the two directions.

A 60 inch round uses a 156 inch center spacing and an 84 inch wall inset, at 8 comfortable seats. In a 60 by 40 foot room that is 4 along the length and 3 across the width: 12 tables and 96 guests.

A 72 inch round uses 168 inch spacing and a 90 inch inset, at 10 seats. An 80 by 50 foot room fits 5 by 3, which is 15 tables and 150 guests. The gala preset ignores that comfort grid and places 24.

Banquet tables run their long side along the room length. A 6 foot table uses 108 inches along and 126 inches across, with insets of 72 and 69 inches, at 6 seats. A 50 by 30 foot room fits 5 by 2: 10 tables and 60 guests.

Fourteen feet is 168 inches. Two insets of 84 inches use the whole side, so the formula still returns one table. Eight guests is the comfortable seat count, not the 10 or 12 the seat control allows on the planner.

The same 60 by 40 foot room in metres is 18.29 m by 12.19 m and 2,400 sq ft, or 222.97 m². The fit stays 12 because the inches did not change. Only the threshold label changes, to 1.5 m.

Wall inset is not a red ring on the drawing. The planner paints pairs of furniture. This page uses the 36 inch chair-back-to-wall rule only to decide how many centers fit. Both rules are in the banquet hall capacity calculator.

An 8 foot banquet uses 132 inches along and the same 126 inches across, at 8 comfortable seats and 10 at the maximum. A 66 inch round, used on the size guide, spaces centers 162 inches apart for 10 comfortable seats.

Wedding rooms that already break the comfort grid are on the wedding seating chart maker. Classic packs 15 rounds into the hall that fits 12 at 8 seats, and the aisle count is 25.

Tent cards for whoever you do seat are the table plan template. Meal words for the kitchen are the event seating chart generator checklist. They are labels, not medical advice, and the aisle color is not a fire-code certificate.

Start from the event floor plan planner when the count is no longer the question and the drawing is. Drag the tops, paste up to 400 guests, and download the PNG with no watermark.

Center spacing already includes both chair depths. 60 inch diameter plus 18 plus 60 plus 18 plus 60 inch diameter is 156 inches from center to center. That is why the readout says 156, not 60.

Questions

Counts you can check

How many 60 inch rounds fit in a 60 by 40 foot room?

Twelve, if every chair back keeps 60 inches from the next chair back and 36 inches from the wall, and you count 8 seats at each table. That is 96 guests. The packed classic preset places 15 rounds and shows the red aisles that result.

How many 72 inch rounds fit in an 80 by 50 foot room?

Fifteen, at 10 seats each, which is 150 guests. The gala preset places 24 rounds in that room on purpose, and the aisle count is 37.

Does switching to metres change the count?

Not for the 60 by 40 foot hall. The room reads 18.29 m by 12.19 m and the fit is still 12 tables. Threshold labels become 1.5 m and 0.9 m.

Why is the packed layout larger than this count?

This page uses the comfortable seat count and a 60 inch chair-back aisle. The classic preset on the planner uses 10 seats and a tighter pitch, then paints the pairs that fall under 60 inches.
